Doodle Tag is a drawing app built around living lines. A stroke is not flattened into paint on a bitmap. It keeps its shape, color, size, order, and owner, which is why Doodle Tag can later cut it with the Eraser, bend it with Wind, replay it from a recording, share it through Together, and undo the operation as a drawing action.
The app is meant to feel playful, but the rules underneath are simple: draw what you want, shape the line objects, and use the menus when you need more precision.
The Canvas
- Draw with one finger or Pencil.
- Use two fingers to pan, zoom, and rotate the paper.
- Tap
Resetto frame the whole paper again. - Hold
Resetto cycle the fixed zoom stopsx2,x3, andRESET. - Drawing outside the paper is ignored.
- Undo is personal: tap
Undofor your latest action, hold it to redo. - Restored solo canvases and restored Together canvases start with clean undo/redo history.

Drawing Tools
Pencil and Colors
Colors opens fast swatches, a color wheel, brightness
controls, and recent colors. White and black stay pinned so they are
easy to return to.
Pencil setup controls drawing size and drawing style.
Plain is normal drawing. Outline draws a
filled stroke with a border; the selected size is the outside size, so
Plain and Outline at the same size occupy the same footprint.
Each tool context remembers its own size. A thin Plain pencil, a wide Eraser, a bold Rainbow, and a broad Wind radius do not overwrite each other when you switch tools.
Rainbow
Rainbow lays color along the distance of the stroke, not by time. Drawing the same path slowly or quickly keeps the same ordered color stream along that path.
Rainbow styles:
Normal: a continuous changing color stream.Pop: stronger color changes along the stroke.Lanes: parallel color lanes.3D Lanes: a lane mode where each color keeps a fixed offset from the centerline.
Hold Rainbow, or tap Colors while Rainbow
is active, to edit the six rainbow palette slots and style controls.
Eraser
The Eraser cuts stored line geometry. It does not paint with the paper color.
A drag becomes a chain of cuts. On long lines, the cut usually leaves smaller surviving pieces on either side. On short fragments, the whole fragment may disappear. Multi-lane rainbow strokes are cut as one coordinated bundle so their lanes stay together.
Eraser edits are undoable because Doodle Tag records the affected lines, the replacement fragments, and the scene order needed to put everything back.
Wind
Wind is the playful shaping tool. It works on solo drawings and is disabled while drawing together.
The Wind settings choose a radius and one of three modes:
Wind: bends and pushes nearby line geometry.Vortex: removes nearby pieces more aggressively.Color: blends nearby stroke colors toward the local mix.
Tap or drag on the canvas to apply the current Wind mode. Repeated hits in the same area can also remove nearby pieces. Solo Wind actions are undoable.
Snap and Grids
Snap constrains drawing direction. With no grid, it
snaps to straight orthogonal directions. With Grid, it
follows the square or inclined grid. With Hex grid, it
follows hex-edge directions.
Grid and Hex grid are mutually exclusive.
Eraser can work while a grid remains visible. Wind turns grids and Snap
out of the active tool set when needed.
Together
Together is Doodle Tag’s one-to-one shared drawing mode. It connects two devices on the local network and opens the canvas that belongs to that exact pair.
- Your solo canvas is parked locally when you enter Together.
- The pair canvas is separate from both solo canvases.
- Leaving Together saves the pair canvas and restores your solo canvas.
- Reconnecting the same two devices brings back that pair canvas.
- Each doodler keeps their own undo/redo flow.
RecordingandWindare disabled while drawing together.- PNG export remains available while together; recording sharing and video sharing are blocked from the recording rows.
The Together process may show messages such as looking for doodlers nearby, connecting, restoring the shared drawing, or returning to your own canvas. While that layer is working, other controls are locked so the connection, restore, or cleanup can finish cleanly.
Hold Clear while together to request a shared clear. The
peer sees CLEAR REQUESTED while you keep holding.
Recording and Playback
Recording is solo-only.
Tap Recording to start. Doodle Tag opens
Record your drawing; if you start, the recording begins on
a blank canvas. Tap the red button again to stop. The recorded drawing
stays on the canvas, the .dtag file is saved, and one undo
takes you back to the canvas that existed before the recording
started.
Saved recordings can be:
- replayed inside Doodle Tag
- shared as a
.dtagfile - rendered and shared as an MP4
- opened from supported Android and iOS file flows
Playback starts from a blank canvas and is read-only while it runs.
Skip jumps to the end. Cancel restores the
canvas that was visible before playback. A completed playback is one
undoable snapshot action.
Export and Sharing
Tap Export for Share Drawing. Hold
Export for Export Drawing.
Image presets:
Mini 1024pxNormal 2048pxMax 4096px
Both forms have an Include grid toggle for PNG output.
Every PNG carries a small Doodle Tag watermark and is written to the app
export folder; the export form also saves it to the
Doodle Tag Photos album.
Video sharing uses the last saved .dtag recording:
Mini 360pNormal 720pMax 1440p
Mini 360p MP4 sharing is available to everyone.
Normal and Max video presets require supporter
access. Video is rendered on the device, so speed and smoothness depend
on the phone or tablet.
Resets and Defaults
Tool settings persist across launches. Holding
Alert style opens the reset flow for tool-facing state:
colors, sizes, Rainbow settings, Eraser settings, Wind settings, grid
settings, and alert mode.
Useful defaults:
- Plain drawing starts in Doodle blue at
100 px. - Rainbow lane contexts start wider for expressive ribbons.
- Eraser starts as a broad geometry cutter.
- Wind starts with a large radius and can be tuned from
100 pxto800 px. - The quick palette starts with Doodle blue, Tag green, white, and black.
Holding Clear while solo clears saved session and
restore data, including remembered Together pair canvases, without
clearing the canvas currently on screen.
Accessibility and Feedback
Main controls expose accessibility labels and short hints. Alerts use
the same banner surface for tool changes, disabled actions, recording
status, and Together status. Alert style lets you choose
all alerts, key alerts, or silence.
The app is still a visual drawing tool, but labels, confirmations, progress layers, and undo boundaries are designed to make the control surface understandable without memorizing hidden modes.
